Autumn leaves and falls

Quick bulletin update – slips, slides and falls 🍂🍌.

Now that the Autumn months are here and the leaves are all over the place – Did you know that even the way we tie up our shoelaces can impact support and functionality.

Did you know?

If you have a broad forefoot you may wish to avoid lacing up the last two eyelets of your shoes.

If you have a high arched and stiff foot type in which case you may wish to avoid tying up the top two eyelets.

A velcro or lace up shoe is best for maximum support and allowing the toes and intrinsic / extrinsic foot musculature to not work so hard.

Top Tips

For those with neuropathy where you may not be able to feel your feet so well or just generalised foot issues before putting on your shoes 🔝Tip – turn the shoes upside down give them a shake.  Maybe even run your hands through the surface of the shoe to ensure that there are no lurking small pebbles or similar that can damage your feet.

Avoid shoes where the lace pattern is not directedly centred.  Always lace up shoes to avoid increasing your chances of tripping.

🔝Tip – worried about a fungal nail(s)? – Why not start spraying the inside of your shoes post wear with a topical antifungal spray.
