Are You Suffering from Cold and Stiff Feet this Halloween?
Having cold and stiff feet can be an indication for some underlying medical conditions. Also, it may cause discomfort and may be a disturbance especially in your daily routine.
Joint misalignment and stiffness of the foot are known to be the primary cause or aggravating factor of most musculoskeletal pain conditions. The causes may be due to osteoarthritis or having tight calves for example. Osteoarthritis is a very common condition which can affect any joint in the body including our knees and feet. On the other hand, tight calves can be uncomfortable and cause in extreme cases cause difficulty walking. Tight muscles may result from overuse or cramps.
One cause of having cold feet is due to Raynaud’s Disease. Raynaud’s phenomenon (or Raynaud’s disease) is an illness causing some parts of the body to feel numb and cool in response to cold temperatures or stress. It is more usual in colder climates. It makes the skin turn to blue and feel numb and cold. When it is over, blood rushes back to the area and will cause tingling and throbbing. Moreover, blisters can develop in extreme circumstances, that makes walking exceedingly painful.
Affected people must do all they can to keep themselves, and particularly their feet, warm. This may mean wearing thick warm socks most of the time and having foot massage can help. Exercising can also help to increase blood flow. If other symptoms are present, it could be a sign of a more severe condition and you should see a doctor or podiatrist.
