Foot Shapes
The shape, alignment and length of your toes mainly depicts what type of feet you have. Each foot is unique. It is important to know what type of foot you have so that you can fit your shoes properly.
As a generalisation there are 4 Types of Foot Shapes
- Egyptian feet – the big toe is the longest and also the lesser toes slant downward at a 45 degrees angle. This is one of the most usual foot types. Egyptian feet are often narrower and longer. The neat angle of the toes makes this type of foot form easily adaptable to most shoes. One usual condition of the Egyptian foot is bunion. With this kind of foot, the big toe will turn into the direction of the other toes.
- Greek feet – In this type of foot shape, the 2nd toe is longer than the other toes. It has been known to be defined by a Morton’s toe that juts out past the big toe for a more pointed formation. Greek feet are characterized by a longer second toe and a smaller first metatarsal bone, which connects the toes to the back of the foot. Greek feet, in which the second toe is bigger than the big toe, are also known as the Flame Foot or Fire Foot.
- Roman feet – Roman feet can be prone to aching hammer toes. This type of foot shape shows that the largest three toes being on the same height and the smaller two descending in length and also all of the lesser toes may curve slightly inward and descending. Roman feet are likely to have high arches.
- Square feet – all five toes are about the same length, making the foot looks more square in appearance. Square feet often have a wide forefoot and a narrow heel, which can lead to painful swelling of the balls known as metatarsalgia.
