Why we should Foot Scrub
Keeping your foot skin and especially the soles of our feet healthy is a great way to keep microbes at bay. For a gentle and not too aggressive way, use a pumice stone or a foot emery board, (avoiding the metal files as these are too abrasive) and on dry feet. Yes dry feet before the shower and we can then further apply a good exfoliating cream.
The purpose of foot scrub is to remove dead skin cells, reduce calluses, and relieve muscle tension from standing all day.
Here is one home made foot scrub, a suggestion for you why not try:
- Four tablespoons of brown sugar
- ︎One tablespoon of black strap molasses naturally rich in antioxidants, iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, and vitamin B6. We can also drink or eat black strap molasses purported as an aside to relieve constipation. It can also help treat anaemia, and support bone and hair health︎
- 1/2 a tablespoon of sweet almond oil in a bowl
- ︎4 drops of lemon essential oil, and 3 drops of orange essential oil. And also 3 drops of peppermint essential oil to the bowl.
Stir and lather all over your feet leave in place for up to two minutes. Then wash off with warm water when you’re finished. Applying a great heel balm something like the Foot mender of Simply Feet Heel Balm with a 25% urea content after is great.
